Habitat for Humanity of Lansing is accepting applications from families and individuals interested in becoming Habitat homeowners. The organization anticipates it will build or rehabilitate 10-15 houses in 2011-2012.

“We’re asking the community to help us spread the word that we are now accepting applications from families and individuals in need of safe, decent, affordable housing,” explains, Ashley Bergau, Family Services Coordinator of Habitat for Humanity of Lansing.
To qualify for a Habitat for Humanity home, applicants must have income which meets our income guidelines and pass a credit check. Applicants must also be currently living in substandard housing, and they must agree to help build their own house as well as other Habitat houses while in the homeownership program. They are required to take classes as part of their transition from renters to owners. These classes include financial management and home maintenance.
